Losing a dog is one of the most difficult things in the world. Even the biggest celebrities share in the heartbreak of saying goodbye to a beloved pet.
Recently, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne said goodbye to Rocky, his beloved pet pomeranian of 15 years, as he revealed in a touching social media post.
The 75-year-old former Black Sabbath frontman revealed in an Instagram post on August 22 that Rocky had recently passed on. Ozzy adopted the Pomeranian back in 2010.
“Two days ago I lost my good friend Rocky who has been at my side for 15 years,” Osbourne wrote, along with an old photo of him carrying the dog in his arms. “I’ll see you on the other side my friend. I love you always.”
Many fans and fellow celebrities commented on the post to share their condolences. “Sorry for loss. RIP Rocky,” wrote actor Danny Trejo, who last month said goodbye to his own dog, his teacup Chihuahua Dixie.
Ozzy’s wife, TV personality Sharon Osbourne, also paid her own tribute to Rocky.
“We lost an OG and Ozzy’s partner in crime,” she wrote. “Rest Easy Rocky 🐶 💔 🌈”
Ozzy and Sharon have many other pets at home: their large dog pack includes senior pets Bella, Alfie, Charlie, Pepsi and Reba.
They are proponents of rescuing and adoption — and the most recent addition to their family made headlines back in June after the Osbournes rescued a “severely burned” bulldog who had been set on fire.
“The most beautiful thing about the whole situation to me is that after such terrible things were done to him, he’s still so full of love,” Sharon said on the family’s podcast.
“I don’t know how anyone could have set this f***ing dog on fire!” Ozzy said.
After some indecisiveness about the dog’s name, they decided to call him “Bugzy,” or Bug for short.
The Osbournes are known for their advocacy for animals: Ozzy and Sharon have both appeared in service announcements for PETA, speaking out against fur and animal declawing.
