Every generation has a guitar anthem that everyone knows and will stop to jam along with as soon as they hear it. If you lived through the 1980s, you undoubtedly begin to shake your hips just like Axl Rose when you hear Slash start to play the iconic riff from Sweet Child ‘O Mine. There is something so transformative about that song, and it will bring all of Gen X together.
Adam and the Metal Hawks, also known as The AMH Band, decided to cover the Guns ‘N Roses classic, and we’ll admit, when we saw the TikTok, we got a bit nervous. The two guitar players have plastic bowls on their heads, and the guys behind them are banging water bottles on them like drumsticks. It seemed totally ridiculous, but their guitar playing sounded pretty good.
The Lead Singer’s Voice Is Shockingly Good While Covering “Sweet Child O’Mine”
We also weren’t expecting the lead singer to sound as great as he did, and neither was X. The band originally posted the cover in 2021, and it went viral a second time after Non-Aesthetic Things posted it to X. The video was viewed 8.1 million times, and people were shocked. The singer’s voice is giving Jack Black vibes, and it’s pretty darn impressive.
Someone wrote, “Was not expecting him to be that good! Sometimes people surprise you!”
This person remembered AMH from lockdown, “Raise your hand if you remember when the band first uploaded this vid to TikTok during the height of covid. I miss lockdowns TikTok. Before the shop, before everything was staged, when lives were just people hanging out and wanting to connect with others…”
“How do people even stay and figure out genius weird stuff like this I love it,” this person agreed.”
“Wow, I didn’t take them seriously with that bowl on their heads and the bottle, but his voice changed that. The harmony of the voices and the music is nice.”
